CrossFit 847
The owners of CrossFit 847 have decided to shut down the business, effective at the end of this month. All of CrossFit 847′s regularly scheduled classes, programs and facility hours will continue up to and including April 30, 2012, but there will be no classes or access to the facility after the last regularly scheduled class concludes on April 30th, nor will any membership fees be charged beyond this month.
We have truly enjoyed creating and being a part of the CrossFit 847 community and wish each of you good health and happiness in the future. We hope that our paths will cross again”.
Wanted: Determined people ready for a change.
If you have found it to our site you are a wise person in need of a change. Change from what? Change from the typical gym that pushes people to max out on “cardio” like the elliptical and treadmill. Change from gyms training the everyday person on machines manufactured to train bodybuilders. Why are you running around these cardio machines like hamsters? Why are you doing isolation training on machines that do not improve your fitness or health? How has this become the definition of fitness?
Fitness is about using your body in a useful manner. Fitness means you can pick up heavy stuff without throwing your back out. Fitness means you can run down the block without feeling like your heart is going to explode. Fitness means addressing all the injuries and weaknesses you have and actually making them better. Fitness means you don’t eat a bunch of fast food for dinner and actually understand how to feed yourself.
You shoud be training your body so you can be better at life. You should train your body hard and in new and fun ways. You should look forward to going to the gym. You should have a coach that knows your name and knows exactly how to train you. You should have other fellow members at the gym who know your name and want to see you excel and cheer you on when you’re struggling through a really hard workout. You should leave your gym feeling strong, empowerd and like you could kick someone’s ass if you had to. You should train your body like an athlete. At CrossFit 847 we train everyone like an athlete.
We do not charge the bargain basement prices you might find at typical fitness chains. We charge more. If you want a gym where you pay $50/month and can walk around with your ipod on and lift in the corner then we are not for you. If you want a gym where you will not be pushed hard to do your best, then we are not for you. We don’t expect everyone to operate like 20 something professional athletes. We don’t care about your abilites as an athlete. We care about how much you want to change. We want people who are ready to WORK. We are good at our job and know how to train you. Don’t worry if you’re out of shape, injured, etc. We are here to take care of that. Your body is meant to do some amazing things. Break out of the typical gym mold with Crossfit 847.

Defining Crossfit is tricky, but here goes: CrossFit is a well-rounded strength & conditioning style that utilizes functional movements. We do total-body, multi-joint movements that require whole body conditioning, rather than single joint, isolation moves. For instance we work exercises like squats, push-ups, pull-ups,lunges, sit-ups, presses, kettlebell swings, gymnastic moves like handstands & ring dips, olympic lifting techniques using the clean & jerk and snatch, running, rowing, jumping rope, plyometrics, medicine ball throws and heavy barbell lifting.
These movements will ensure you health benefits above and beyond those experienced from your typical gym routines of elliptical machines, leg presses, bicep curls and crunches. Our routines are hard, might sound a little crazy, and generally done as fast as possible. We are demanding on technique and range of motion and accept nothing less than maximum effort. If you’re looking for a quick fix, a magic-pill, a sneaker to tone your ass, a weight to shake away the flab, a DVD to magically make you skinny, then CrossFit is NOT what you’re looking for.
But if you’re looking to be in the most amazing shape of your life, be healthy, strong, sexy, confident, eat cleaner, build friendships, and have a great time, then CrossFit might just be for you. CrossFit is scalable for everyone. No one is too out of shape, too overweight, too old, too girly, too weak, too clumsy, too whatever…

All of our classes are one hour in length, always led by a certified CrossFit coach, and held in a positive and motivating group setting.
